Tessa van Asselt (Tjitske Reidinga) is geslaagd te noemen: ze is zakelijk succesvol, gelukkig getrouwd en heeft een intelligente, zij het ietwat wereldvreemde, puberzoon (Alex Hendrickx). Maar haar zorgvuldig gecomponeerde wereld begint barsten te vertonen als de voortslepende verbouwing van haar huis volledig uit de hand dreigt te lopen en zij afstevent op een huwelijkscrisis. Als daarbij ook grote financiële problemen ontstaan die het voortbestaan van haar privékliniek bedreigen begint Tessa de greep op haar leven te verliezen. De charmante Johan (Peter Blok) biedt zich aan als reddende engel en belooft om al haar problemen op te lossen, maar ook hij kan de kwetsbare Tessa niet helpen. Langzaam maar zeker en onontkoombaar wordt Tessa meegetrokken in zo’n benarde, levensgevaarlijke situatie dat er geen uitweg meer mogelijk lijkt.
